Evaluation Question 6

What have you learnt about the technologies from the process of constructing this product?

Photoshop:

Before this project I had never used photoshop so at first I was anxious about it. After a couple of weeks of learning about it I feel my product was a success. For my cover I used the contrast tool and black and white effects heavily, this was so the lining of the jacket stayed red and Kate was in black and white yet still appeared clear and powerful. I always knew I did not want to over-edit my product because of its genre so I kept these effects minimal, yet effective.

I used the colour dropper tool a lot to ensure my colour shading stayed the same across text and images.

I also used the type tool to ensure my fonts all matched and were spaced well. The main canvas with options surrounding it makes photoshop ideal for producing products such as magazines as everything is organized and mistakes are easy to rectify. 

The advantages of photoshop include the layering, making it easy to construct my product. Other advantages included easy function and layout and easy usage.

I found no real disadvantages of photoshop once I was used to it.

Blogger:

This was the only other technology used and it was to present everything on. I found it very easy to use at home and college; I like how easy it is to customize the design and layout as this benefits me. Advantages include being able to go back and edit posts and easily attach images etc. to posts. I again found no disadvantages with this and would use it again.

Camera:

For my magazine photos I was going to use my canon 60d DSLR, for practical reasons however I ended up using the camera on my iphone 5. Where this was not ideal I feel I made it work and photoshop allowed me to enhance the images to a magazines standard.

 

Font:

My fonts were from dafont.com, this is because their fonts all met my genre conventions as it has thousands of ready to use fonts. After finding the ones I desired you download them to be used through photoshop or word, this was very practical for me and I found it easy to use. Advantage is much more artistic input in the design and a more professional finish, my only disadvantage was occasionally I would have to re-download the font due to saving issues.
