Original
Ideas Statement
My magazine is
alternative and punk music; it has an attitude to mirror the consumer. Here are
my ideas for my product so far:
Working titles: Undone, Dirt, Rinsed, Black Milk, Vessel.
Target Audience (demographic and psychographic): Predominantly males aged 16-23 with an
interest in brand new underground music and frequently attending gigs,
interested in some social issues such as drug use, most likely to live in
cities as closer to venues etc., my product will appeal to the subcultures of
student life.
Price: £2.00
Released: Weekly
Content: Reviews – album and live, interviews, gig guides,
advertisements. Heavy focus on NEW music.
Style: Counter-culture but still conforming to magazine conventions, sans
serif font, effective use of colour and photography.
USP: New music that’s easily accessible.
Position in the market: A small publisher has meant my magazine is not as
mainstream as NME, however this could benefit as it retaliates against NME’s
opinions and has its own – my consumers will realize this and buy it.
Making my
magazine cost £2 would keep funds up so that continued production is realistic.
