My target
demographic is predominately males ages 16-23 with an interest in new and
alternative music. My mood board shows this through the images I have chosen.
The festival crowd is from Reading and Leeds, this festival showcases the type
of music my magazine will. ‘Topshop’ is where I expect the female consumers
will purchase their clothes from as topshop are affordable and cater to
alternative cultures fashion. The records indicate how I want my consumers to
have a love for older music and appreciate vinyl, I expect half of my readers
or more will own a record player. ‘NME’ shows the other publications my
demographic may be interested in, however mine is less mainstream. The Stone
Roses again show the taste of my target audience, old British music that is
iconic. This is also the reason for The Libertines being on there. My consumers
will most likely be aware of current music news which is why I’ve included Alt
J winning this years Mercury prize. The guitars display how my audience are
likely to be musicians or in bands themselves, this widens their appreciation
of music and allows musical language to feature in my product. The iphone is
one of the most popular and modern phones and common amongst students. I’ve
added SBTRKT (in the mask) to signify my products championing of new music. The
still from A Clockwork Orange is a cultural reference to what my consumer would
watch/read, as this is almost a cult movie and a well-kept secret. I’ve
included beer and Chinese food to contribute to the student/festival/teenage
ideology.
